Community Closure Event

On January 28, 2012, over two hundred guests helped bring closure to the many memories connected to the Pearson Mansion and Richmond Hill Inn. OM Sanctuary hosted a Community Closure Event, which included guest room tours, healing arts demonstrations, and a Closure Ceremony. Former employees, couples who had been married on the grounds, and long-time patrons returned to reminisce and learn about the project rising from the ashes.
Speakers at the ceremony included: Jack Thomson of the Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County, Marge Michel, former Richmond Hill Inn owner, Jim Samsel of Samsel Architects, Karen Cragnolin, Wilma Dykeman Project representative, and Shelli Stanback, OM Sanctuary President. Martha Kiger led a sand mandala ceremony, accompanied by award-winning percussionist, Layne Redmond. Michelle Smith led a dove release ceremony in the Serenity Gardens with three majestic doves from Asheville White Dove Releases.
